Produced in collaboration with the street artist Maser, a large scale fabric banner serves as a backdrop for the Leviathan Political Cabaret Stage. The abstracted pattern of glitter spandex, crush velvet and bath towels refers to crashing waves in the deep sea, drawn from the idea of the Leviathan sea monster alluded to in Hobbes title for his classic treatise on statecraft. Responding through colour and surface to ideas that play out in the tent, the piece provides a platform for Maser’s design for the Repeal the 8th mural. The Leviathan Stage, for political debate, music, comedy and satire, is created by Naoise Nunn and hosted by David McWilliams and features Ireland's most provocative pundits. The 2016 programme included 'What the F*ck is Culture Anyway' hosted by Rubberbandits Blindboy Boatclub, Soundings hosted by Dylan Haskins and Sharon Horgan and daily live satirical news broadcasts from Waterford Whispers News.
